Before painting

The preparation phase of the surfaces of the materials before painting is essential to obtain finished products that reach high quality standards.

Colorsolution proposes different working cycles before painting in relation to the object to be painted and the use for which it is intended

Sandblasting

Sandblasting, either manual or automatic, is a process undergone by metals (aluminium, iron, steel) to remove from their surface possible residue, rust and corrosive crusts without damaging it. This operation permits to meet the quality standards required by the Customer when painting.

Thus, the sandblasting process must be done before painting.

In the automatic sandblasting offered by Colorsolution, a sand blast is shot at high pressure to eliminate all the impurities and the residue of metal processing. The result is a piece whose surface has no oxidation or corrosion signs.

In the process, we use grits, e.g. quartz grit, whose sizing, shape and type depend on the material to be treated: the hardest the metal surface, the bigger the sizing of the abrasive and vice versa.

Our machines allow obtaining a sandblasting with roughness from Sa 1.5 up to Sa 3.5.

For some types of customers it is necessary to proceed with this treatment before painting.

  • Trains: to guarantee the conductivity of the objects
  • Ceramic supports
  • Blacksmiths

Washing with phosphating

The phosphating process is used to improve painting of metals, such as iron, cast iron, etc.

The phosphating plant consists of a 4-phase pre-treatment tunnel, complete with drying oven with overhead conveyor.

This automatic treatment is carried out in order to eliminate the oil deriving from the mechanical processing of the object and to allow a greater adherence of the paint that will be applied later, guaranteeing a double resistance compared to an untreated surface.

It is also possible to hand-washing very bulky parts.

Masking and suspension systems

Before moving on to the painting phase it is necessary to affix masking on the object to cover the parts that will not have to be painted, to guarantee a precise and high quality result. The masking operation is carried out directly by our personnel who will design and manually apply the protective masks on the supports before proceeding to the next step.

Colorsolution has also designed a new and innovative suspension system that allows easy handling of the pieces and accurate processing of the materials at all angles. If necessary, our technical department can design special suspension systems in relation to the specific characteristics of the object.

Mechanical workshop

We have inside our factory a grinding department able to carry out the grinding of the excess welding before proceeding to the painting cycle.

Moreover we also have a carpentry department able to prototype and produce some small sized accessory pieces (cutting-bending-laming).
